HUCE Multimedia Technology Students "Lost" in the World of Animation
The classes for Multimedia Technology students at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) are not just about programming and computer design; they are also hands-on experiences that allow students to get a feel for the professional working environment of the creative industry.
December 2nd, 2025 became a memorable day for K70 students majoring in Multimedia Technology as they had the opportunity to visit the Vietnam Animation Film Studio – the cradle of films associated with the childhood of many generations.

Leading the tour were Mr. Pham Duc Thoan (Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information Technology), Ms. Bui Thanh Huong (Head of the Computer Engineering Professional Group), and other faculty members from the Faculty of Information Technology. The group of 116 students from classes 70CNDPT1 and 70CNDPT2 participated in enriching activities such as:
Take a tour and ask questions directly about the production process in the computerized paper cutting room and the 2D hand-drawn film production room.

Enjoy these exquisite works that affirm the brand of Vietnamese animation.

And especially, we had the opportunity to listen to valuable professional insights from Director - Artist - Deputy General Director of the Company Bui Manh Quang; Screenwriter - Head of Script Department Pham Thi Thanh Ha; and Director - Artist Vu Duy Khanh.

Having the opportunity to observe the production line firsthand and directly interact with experienced directors, artists, and screenwriters helped students gain a deeper understanding of the process of creating an animated film – from idea, script, character design, and setting to the final product. At the same time, the sincere, relatable, yet passionate stories of the profession further motivated them, instilling pride and a sense of responsibility towards the path they have chosen.

On behalf of the Faculty of Information Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duc Thoan expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Vietnam Animation Film Studio for their enthusiastic support in making this a truly impressive practical field trip for the Multimedia Technology students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. In particular, the delegation also shared in the studio's successes, including the Silver Lotus Award (for the film "The Gong of Nua Mountain" - directed by Vu Duy Khanh); the Jury Award (for the films "The Promise of Dien Bien" - directed by Bui Manh Quang; and "The Broken Chicken Feather" - directed by Bui Manh Quang); a Certificate of Merit from the Director of the Cinema Department (for the film "The Legend of the Scholar Flower" - directed by Nguyen Thi Hong Linh); and the Outstanding Scriptwriter Award (Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Pham Thi Thanh Ha). He received the Outstanding Art Director award (Meritorious Artist Le Binh) at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival – 2025, and expressed his hope that the bridge connecting the Faculty of Information Technology and the Vietnam Animation Film Studio would continue to develop, opening up many opportunities for cooperation in the future.
The trip has come to an end, but the lasting impression on each student is one of excitement, creative inspiration, and a clearer vision of their future careers.
The Multimedia Technology major at HUCE continues to affirm its training orientation closely linked to practice – where theory is illuminated through practical experience, and where creative passion is nurtured, giving wings to future young filmmakers and designers.
