Department of Construction Informatics

General introduction to the Department and Industry of Construction Informatics:

Construction Informatics started training in 1991, under the management of the Department of Informatics, under the Faculty of Bridges and Roads. The first training course was K36.

In 2001, the Faculty of Information Technology was established. According to Decision No. 497/2001/QD-TCCB, the Department of Information Technology was divided into two new departments: Software Technology and System Engineering. During this period, the Department of Software Technology continued to undertake the training of Construction Information Technology.

On January 10, 2005, according to Decision No. 10/2005/QD-TCCB of the President of the University of Construction, the Department of Construction Informatics was officially established. The founding members include: Lecturer: Master Vu Truong Son, Lecturer: Engineer Le Trong Hoa, Lecturer: Master Dao Tang Kiem, Lecturer: Engineer Nguyen Ngoc Chau, Lecturer: Master Hoang Chinh Nhan, Lecturer: Architect Nguyen Phu Quang, Lecturer: Tran Anh Binh.

From this point on, the Department of Construction Informatics is directly responsible for training in the Construction Informatics industry.

Up to now, more than 1,300 Construction Informatics engineers have graduated, contributing highly qualified human resources to the fields of design, project management, application programming, model simulation and IT application in construction.

In recent years, the training program of Construction Informatics has been constantly updated according to new technology trends, to meet the increasingly diverse needs of the modern construction market.

In addition to maintaining and enhancing a solid foundation of professional knowledge in construction , helping students to be ready to participate in the design of civil and industrial construction works , the program also focuses on developing advanced technological skills, including:

Building Information Modeling (BIM) : Helps students master modeling technology and manage information synchronously throughout the life cycle of a project – from design, construction to operation.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analysis : Applications in design optimization, structure-load forecasting, construction progress and quality management, and developing solutions for smart cities.

In addition, students are also equipped with programming skills, application software development, digital simulation, technical information system management, and soft skills in communication, teamwork and critical thinking - creating a solid foundation for career development in a multidisciplinary, modern and globalized working environment.
