At 9:20 AM on October 20, 2025, in Hall 14.H2 – 1st Floor, H2 Building, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, students majoring in Multimedia Technology – Faculty of Information Technology will hold a special film screening and panel discussion titled “There’s a Star That Runs to Christmas – Young Filmmakers Tell Their Filmmaking Stories”. This is an opportunity for students who love Multimedia Technology and film art to watch films, interact directly, and learn from young directors who are gradually establishing their own unique identity in the Vietnamese film industry.
The event was part of a series of lectures by director Nguyen Hoang Diep in the subject of Screenwriting and Multimedia Special Effects, and also served as a practical project activity for two K69 classes specializing in Multimedia Special Effects. Notably, two new classes, 70CNĐPT1 and 70CNĐPT2, also participated in the organization, gaining a deeper understanding of the field through practical lessons.
The event is honored to have the presence of two special guests:
Director Nguyen Cong Thuc Anh – the author of the documentary "There's a Constellation" – portrays a different side of the famous artist Cong Ly in his father-son relationship. The film is also a journey of self-discovery beyond the glittering spotlight. The film was nominated for the Golden Kite Award 2023 and screened in the S-Express 2024 program, leaving a strong impression on Vietnamese documentary film enthusiasts.
Director Nguyen Minh Hoang (HoangF) – a former student of Met Film School Berlin, is the man behind the short film "Running Towards Christmas," a love story of a generation often criticized for its "flirtatious" nature, yet imbued with humanistic values and a lighthearted humor. The film will convey an optimistic spirit and the desire for commitment in love among today's young generation.
The panel discussion, themed "Young Filmmakers Tell Their Filmmaking Stories," will be moderated by Director Nguyen Hoang Diep, who has always been a mentor, guide, and inspiration to the younger generation of filmmakers.
