A group of students from the Faculty of Information Technology won second prize in the "Student Scientific Research" competition in 2016.

The project " Building a Smart Home System " by students Nguyen Dinh Quy and Nguyen Van Quang from class 58PM1, under the guidance of Lecturer Nguyen Hai Duong, won second prize in the "Student Scientific Research" competition in 2016.

On the evening of January 7th, the Ministry of Education and Training held the awards ceremony for the " Student Scientific Research" award in 2016. Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Manh Hung attended and presented the awards to the students. Also present at the ceremony were representatives from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam Fund for Technical Innovation Support (Vifotec).

In 2016, 279 student projects from 74 institutions participated in the competition. After the preliminary round, 52 projects advanced to the final round.

The University of Civil Engineering has 3 projects that reached the final round and were presented to the science and technology field council, including one project by a group of students from the Faculty of Information Technology. Project code KT-58: “ Building a Smart Home System ” was carried out by students Nguyen Dinh Quy and Nguyen Van Quang from class 58PM1 under the guidance of Lecturer Nguyen Hai Duong, M.Sc. - Department of Software Technology.

The group of student researchers presented their research topic to the review board.

Outperforming numerous research projects nationwide, the project "Building a Smart Home System" won second prize in the 2016 "Student Scientific Research" competition. The student team received a commendation from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and an award from the Minister of Education and Training.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training's leadership, Deputy Minister Pham Manh Hung congratulated the award-winning students, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the supervising lecturers and the units that received awards for their outstanding achievements in student research activities in 2016.

The Faculty of Information Technology has always clearly defined scientific research in general, and student scientific research in particular, as both a goal and an important solution for innovating teaching and learning methods in universities to improve the quality of high-level human resources for the country.

Following the awards ceremony, the Faculty of Information Technology and the Department of Software Engineering extended their congratulations to the student research team and their supervising lecturer for achieving outstanding results with a practical and highly applicable research topic.

Sharing his feelings after the awards ceremony, research team leader Nguyen Dinh Quy said: “ I am truly happy to have won this award. During the research process, we learned a lot from the teachers and fellow students. I hope the Faculty of Information Technology will continue to create opportunities for scientific research so that students have the chance to apply the theories they learn to solve real-world problems. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank the teachers in the Department of Software Technology and the teachers of the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Civil Engineering for their dedicated support in helping us complete this project .”
