General introduction:
The Department of Systems and Computer Network Engineering was established in 2001, at the same time as the Faculty of Information Technology, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. Initially, the department was named "Department of Systems Engineering", and in 2009 it was changed to "Department of Systems and Computer Network Engineering". The department is responsible for training the major "Computer Networks and Data Communications" under the Information Technology major.
When it was first established, the department had only 03 lecturers. By the 2024-2025 school year, the official teaching staff had increased to 06 full-time lecturers and 01 teaching assistant. In addition, in this school year, the department has expanded its cooperation, inviting many collaborators who are doctors and associate professors from other universities to participate in teaching and providing professional guidance.
All lecturers of the department have master's degrees or higher, including 02 PhDs and 04 masters. The department always focuses on improving professional qualifications, encourages young lecturers to study graduate and doctoral programs, and promotes scientific research and cooperation with businesses and universities at home and abroad to update knowledge and advanced technology.

Teaching and scientific research:
The department is responsible for teaching specialized subjects "Computer Networks and Data Communications", and conducting in-depth research in the fields of: Network Communications and Network Infrastructure; Information Security and Network Security; System Control and Management; Development of Network Applications;
The major “Computer Networks and Data Communications” plays an important role in the Information Technology industry, providing infrastructure and technical solutions for many modern application systems. The major focuses on advanced network technologies such as: Internet of Things (IoT); Artificial Intelligence in network management and network security; Cloud computing; Smart network systems and optimization of connection infrastructure.
Engineers graduating from the major of "Computer Networks and Data Communications" are capable of: Managing data centers and network systems for businesses; Securing information systems and analyzing network security risks; Developing and integrating IoT solutions in network administration; Researching and applying new data communication technologies.
With a training orientation closely linked to practice, the department constantly innovates teaching methods, combining in-depth theory and practical practice, helping students access new technology and improve professional skills.
